Project Day (2nd Installment) - May 5th, 2014
The above map shows the location of where both installments of my pilot program took place, the Navy SEAL Heritage Center on JEB Little Creek - Fort Story (picture\drawing below). I arrived here with family and a few friends around 4:45pm EST on the Project Day. The program was set to begin at 5:30pm EST.
Upon arriving and unlocking the building, we began to set up.
By about the time we finished setting up, guests started rolling in
When the pizza came in, I soon opened up the boxes and invited the group for pizza, drinks, and other snacks.
I used this as time to meet with my audience and learn more about them and share personal experiences
After some time, I asked everyone to head upstairs into the auditorium (but not before they signed in (; )
After signing in, everyone received a pamphlet from Project FOCUS with a cheat sheet that displayed the Qualities of Good Coping
Once the audience was relatively settled, I began my presentation portion of the pilot program
Towards the end, to drive home some of the points I made, I asked the children in the audience to take part in an activity
Children were asked to tell a partner something about themselves without talking or writing anything down. The purpose was to show that verbal communication is almost essential when it comes to stress, as doing so effectively helps reduce it
The end of the activity concluded the seminar. I thanked everyone for participating and listening, and the clean-up process began. Below are some more photos from the entire day!
